3000 years ago, Drakis was a slave empire led by an insidious cult until they were overthrown by a heroic party of the enslaved. With this leader crowned king the line of succession fell to his bloodline, with the firstborn being heir. The kingdom flourished, while each king's rule was their own and a varying range of benevolence and tyranny existed in those times, generally the people were content.

That was until a few months ago, when the King was assassinated and no heir had yet been born. Scholars and librarians delved deep into the records in search of a successor. It was during this time that a sudden spate of disappearances began; people of all ages, races, and stations vanished without a trace and with no clear reason why.

While the heir to the throne remains unknown, the kingdom plunges into chaos. A distant descendant of the original party that supported the first king now holds power, making suspicious decisions. In the midst of this turmoil, the nation of Talax has dispatched soldiers to maintain order, all under the approval of the current steward.
