Cultist

CITIZEN DESCRIPTION

A cultist is a devout follower of a dark god, although they are easily coerced or deceived into this life or belief. Others find their way into the cult through fear, desire for revenge or destitution, once in they are quickly indoctrinated into the mindset of the cult, led by a dark apostle.

Life for low level cultists is harsh, unforgiving and prone to discipline by the leader, as they rise up their fortunes change as they gain favour, and often the ones at or near the top become wealthy and powerful. They in turn use this wealth and power to recruit more, and the cycle perpetuates.

Player Backgrounds

Players can start as a Cultist or use as a background when creating an Adventurer All player characters and non-player characters with a class are adventurers; even if they reach the level of champion, hero or legend, they can still be referred to as adventurers. .

While players are generally free to select a citizen role as a background, they should check with the Dungeon Master to make sure it fits within the local area, other party members and does not conflict with the intended adventure.

Party integration

A Cultist can be recruited as an Auxiliary A non-player party member added to the party to provide a service. by a Leader The Leader keyword allows the player to perform leader-limited actions or tasks. .

Skills:

Devout

DevoutSKILL

Fiercely loyal to their religious order and fully committed to their deity; their daily lives revolve around both.


Faith cannot be shaken when in the presence of powerful opposing pantheons. When defending against attacks of enemy pantheons, gain Dodge.

Must not take any actions that go against their faith or risk losing this skill or being Disavowed / Exorcised.

Zealot

ZealotSKILL

Unable to accept any disparagement of their deity, easy to anger, and relentless in the pursuit of those of the enemy deities.


Will trigger an encounter if they identify any character from an opposing pantheon. When moving or attacking, they must move closer to and attack the identified enemy if able.

If a Zealous character loses their faith this skill can not be used.

Citizen Portrait

Citizens have proficiencies in weapons and armour relative to their type and region, so it is not included in the above information, and players do not gain any proficiencies from choosing a citizen background.
